Decompression

Decompression

When you’re hassled and you’re harried,
And you’ve hurried through the day,
And you’re seeking salve or solace
That will soothe your stress away –

Then it’s time to get a cuppa –
As the British like to say –
Or a coffee or a tipple
That will end your working day.

But be timid with the tipple
That might lead to two or three,
And be cautious with the coffee,
If of “nerves” you would be free.

It is better, after resting,
With your feet up, with a tea,
To go walking, as if leisure
Were a right for you and me.

And if you’re in a city,
And to stand and stare is safe,
There are people, who are passing,
And the stores, at which to gape.

And there’s even in the alleys
The ever-changing sky –
And if, perchance, you’re lucky,
There are branches, spreading high…
